This is the first of a two-part workshop series on Atlas.ti, a type of qualitative data analysis software. Part 1 of the worskhop is mostly introductory. It is recommended for those who have never used Atlas.ti before, or have only limited experience with the software.
Part 1 of the workshop will discuss:
- what the software does
- how the software works
- and how the different functions of the software may be relevant to your work
Participants for Part 1 of this workshop are not required to bring Atlas.ti software with them or to have ever worked with the software. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Yuki (katoy@uci.edu) or Danielle (drudes@uci.edu).
About the workshop series:
Yuki Kato and Danielle Rudes recieved funding from the Department of Sociology and the Center for Organizational Research to attend a two-day Atlas.ti workshop with Woolf Consulting in December 2006. They learned a great deal about how the software works and realized that the benefit of using Atlas.ti for any qualitative research is immense.
Part 2 of the Atlas.ti workshop is for those who are interested in the "how-to"s of Atlas.ti. It will examine the software in much more detail and practice coding some actual data. Participants will be asked to bring some qualitative data and a laptop with Atlas.ti downloaded to the workshop. If you have not purchased it, a free demo of Atlast.ti can be downloaded at http://www.atlasti.com/demo.html. Part 2 of thw workshop will be scheduled for the Spring Quarter.
